The United States Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787. Now, 236 years later – plus an additional three days to move the celebration from a Sunday to a convenient Wednesday afternoon – we celebrate that momentous event (a) because it was of world-historical significance and (b) because the Department of Education requires us to do so.

But this is no mere formality! In these difficult times, American political institutions are under extraordinary stress.  The nation is polarized. Martha and Grant Franks will briefly describe the importance of the Constitution in light of the current storm clouds. The discussion period following will attempt to solve all America’s problems and put our nation on a steady course toward a bright and cheerful future.
