What is liberal education, and what does it mean to engage in a formal discipline such as mathematics or grammar in a liberal way? These questions, among others, are explored in Jacob Klein’s essay The Idea of Liberal Education. To encourage further reflection and discussion on this central topic of the College, Klein’s essay will be read on October 2^nd.

The SCI will host readings of classic SJC lectures from our archives. Grab your lunch and come listen. *Discussions of these lectures will occur the Friday of the lecture reading as part of the Dean’s Study Group (12:15 in the Fireside lounge).*
