Wedged at the intersection of earth and esoterica: The Gallina Cliff Dwellings. On Saturday, October 22nd, the OP is hiking up to a cluster of homes built by the Gallina people approximately 900 years ago. The Gallina vanished abruptly, and most recovered Gallina skeletons bear evidence of violent deaths. Some speculate that the entire population was retributively exterminated by the Jemez people. Unclaimed as ancestors by any existing Pueblo tribes, the Gallina Cliff Dwellings are all that remain (aside from some bones) in this most mysterious narrative.

You're invited to tag along as we enjoy the northern NM wilderness and investigate the dwellings ourselves. Pictographs and ponderosas abound.

Assemble at the SAC at 7:00am on 10/22. Breakfast, lunch, and transportation graciously supplied by the OP.

Submit enthusiastic sign-ups to the SAC starting at 12:15pm on Monday, 10/17. Questions and quibbles should be directed to mthurber@sjc.edu (x6148).
