St. John’s College celebrates the grand opening of the historic Mellon Hall today with a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring remarks from St. John’s College President Nora Demleitner, Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller and State Senator Sarah Elfreth, joined by faculty, staff, students, and other honored guests. Funded by a generous capital grant from the state of Maryland and gifts from the Freeing Minds capital campaign, Mellon Hall has undergone a transformation that reestablishes this multipurpose building as the academic, social, and creative heart of the St. John’s College Annapolis campus. 

Signature elements of Richard Neutra’s iconic design have been restored, much as they were in 1958 when President Dwight Eisenhower dedicated the building, while improving accessibility and creating new performance and gathering spaces.
