 ng\, born in Shanghai in 1943 is a former Chinese political activist and t
 ranslator of ancient Chinese poems into English verse\, using the quatrain
  form. He was the last President of Hong Kong’s Legislative Council befo
 re sovereignty reverted in 1997 to China. Now retired and living in Washin
 gton\, D.C.\, in 2021 he published an unprecedented translation of origina
 l poems from the Tang Dynasty (618-907)\, 60 Chinese Poems in English Vers
 e.\n\nStella Zhu (A16) has been a tutor at St. John’s College since 2022
 . She is a translator of poetry and literature\, and reviews Chinese books
  in translation. She holds a PhD from the University of Notre Dame.\n\nFur
