On Saturday, February 14, from 1–2 p.m. in the Mitchell Art Museum, we invite you to share lunch with us and participate in bringing the artwork of the exhibition to life.

By this last phrase, we mean: choose one of the Freidman 'scores' on view and interpret its instructions as a group.

Examples of these scores include:
"Open and Shut Case. Make a box. On the outside, print the word  “Open.” On the inside, print the words “Shut quick.”
Fluxus Television: Paint on the glass screens of television sets."
and "Unfinished Symphony: Find something. Carry it out to its most logical conclusion."

For interpreting these scores: each participant can either draw a picture of how they might personally realize one of these scores in the future, write down their reaction to a favorite score, enact one of the Freidman scores within the museum live, or compose their own score (inspired by Friedman's) on a sheet of paper.

There will be 92 such scores to choose from, so there should be plenty to resonate with you and befuddle you alike! During this lunch hour, we will also discuss these scores as a group, in between following their instructions, to see how we feel about them together.

If we can expect you to attend—and since this will be a catered event—please do RSVP by emailing us at mitchellartmuseum@sjc.edu.

All supplies provided.

We look forward to welcoming you to this special offering!
